SMOOVE & TURRELL

To say Smoove & Turrell are one of the greatest modern Soul acts to emerge from the UK would be an understatement” – Craig Charles (BBC 6 Music). Newcastle’s finest, their rise through the ranks of British soul has been nothing but unstoppable, here’s a little recap why:

First album Antique Soul scored some heavy points with singles I Can’t Give You Up, You Don’t Know & Beggarman. Gaining the lads two records of the week on Radio 2 (Radcliffe & Maconie) and their first ever-national playlist on 6music. The original 7” of the northern soul banger I Can’t Give You Up still changes hands for up to £160 on the net. This propelled Smoove & Turrell to headlining stages at festivals such as Glastonbury and Big Chill to name a few

daytoner

Daytoner started off as a solo DJ /Producer based near Penzance, making edits and originals for funk, soul, latin and swing DJs from the (dis)comfort of his Cornish shed. But since 2015, Daytoner have formed into a full 6 piece live band, fronted by Lucy Richards, touring UK festivals in support of their debut band album – ‘Off The Hook’ – released on limited edition vinyl, CD, download and streaming sites in July 2018.
Over the last 3 years, Daytoner have performed live at dozens of festivals across the UK from Kendal to Cornwall plus special events including the public opening of the new Blue Whale exhibit at The Natural History Museum. They’ve recently been supporting Craig Charles at his Funk & Soul Club nights across the South and West of England, backing up their airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio 2, BBC Radio One and BBC Introducing.

SUBGIANT

The electro dub rock collision that is Subgiant, rocked onto the commercial scene with seminal single ‘Filthy’ in 2006. Shortly followed by the esteemed album Global Control.  After giving Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” and Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name Of” the Subgiant treatment, Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank picked up on the sound and promptly booked them up to play Bestival, and has done for the last 6 years on the trot.

All prolific music producers in their own rights, Dan, Olly & Tushar came together through a love of playing live electronica. Their influences run far and wide and to try and pin Subgiant to any single genre is futile. As The Wire once said, “it’s wonderful to see proper musicians squandering their talents on ‘dance music’!”.
